  • Roland Fd-8 on Dtxpress III module

    Hi there!

I recently "cannibalized" a Roland and a Yamaha set, and was left with a Fd-8 HH controller and a Dtxpress III module.. i've successfully connected an CY-5 to the module, but the Fd-8 doesn't seems to work.. i get nothing at all , no response, zilch! The pedal is working on Roland modules...

Are these incompatible? Any option i should change that I'm not seeing?

    Thanks for any help!

That's right. Something about the polarity is reversed in the Roland FD8. Same goes for trying to use a Yamaha HH65 with a Roland brain. They are not compatible.

Know of any technical data about the subject? Maybe there's some solution for this?

I think there used to be a converter box or something that was sold through Drumbayala, but they are no longer in business. Truthfully, I think a used FD7 for Roland or a used HH65 for Yamaha would be cheaper and probably work better too.
