  • RT-10S/K/T triggers with TD-6V and acoustic drums

    Hello everyone:
As indicated in the title line, I have these triggers with a TD-6V module and accoustic drums with regular heads. The snare and kick dialed up fine - press rolls were a bit sketchy, but I wasn't worried since I really wanted to trigger 80's type e-sounds or big gated sounds occasionally. The kick tracks perfectly.

The toms are a lost cause - I can't do fast tripplet rolls and pick up each stroke. Mind you, I've read the module manual, the trigger manuals, e-mailed Roland...nothing works. It seems I have to muffle the toms and tune the heads rediculously high for it to even come close. Not only do they NOT pick up fast rolls ... they retrigger mercilously.

Does anyone else use these with a td-6v with these? Also, does anyone use these with another module and what are your results?

    Thanks!

Try setting Mask Time to 0 and increase Retrigger Cancel a few notches? (I only have an RT-10K with a TD-8/20.)

Thanks, BarT for the reply. Yes, I have tried that. Whenever I get it to stop popping off false triggers, it then will not recognize faster rolls.

I read that Phil Collins's tech hooked up his triggers to a td-12 and from there a device that holds his sampled e-drums. I KNOW that he wouldn't put up with muffling his drums to get the damn triggers to work! Heck, that's probably my answer: Get a TD-12 or 20...
