The TD-12 module did in fact increase by $100 (USD - MSRP) in June, however the TD-12 kit did NOT increase in price and the kit was also "upgraded" recently. The "newer" TD-12SV (TD-12KV outside of the U.S.) now includes an extra CY-12 R/C cymbal and an extra MDY-10U cymbal mount.

I certainly don't claim to have inside information but based on Roland's track record, I don't see them ever coming out with an updated version of the TD-12. They will more likely replace it with a new mid-level module sometime in the future. How long that will be, who knows. Again, based on recent history, a replacement for the TD-20 would be the next logical step, followed by a scaled-down version (like the TD-8 was for the TD-10, and the TD-12 for the TD-20). Rumors abounding on this site suggest a 2010 release date for the replacement for the TD-20. You can probably expect a TD-12 replacement 18-24 months after that. As far as price drops are concerned, don't count on that either. The price of the TD-12 went up about $100 back in June. As far as where to find the TD-12 at a good price, check RMC audio and BPM music.

Good time to buy a TD-12s kit?

Hi all, been a lapsed V-drummer for a while but am thinking of upgrade my V-Customs TD-8 kit to a TD-12s kit. Curious about others' thoughts regarding whether this a good time to buy or if there have there been any rumors of price drops/improvements in the near future? Anyone have any recommendations on where to find a good price? Anything else I should be concerned about?

My one concern about the TD12 is no Digital or balanced outputs, but I guess that's just the way it is. The TD-20 kit is just too expensive for me to justify, and also too large. That's one reason I would wait though...if there was any chance of an upgraded TD12 with better outputs. Yeah I know that's not likely to happen.....but if anyone has heard anything please speak up

Before anyone asks I have searched and read a lot; if you have any pointers to specific threads you think I may have missed then please post them.

    Thanks!
