I'm soon going to buy a td-12 and I'm thinking about buying the professor's pack, top 50 1 & 2 and master picks 1 & 2 for it. I might be getting a td-20 module a few years after my td-12 so should I get the td-20 kits for a small extra, back up the kits, convert them for the td-12 or I would lose something during the conversion?

Well, since you plan on getting a TD-20 in the future, this sounds like a good idea to me.

...would I lose something during the conversion?
No, you wouldn't lose anything at all. The VEX TD-12 packs were created exactly the same way. They were created on the TD-20, then they were converted to TD-12 using VDrumLib.
