Well gang finally got my Vexpressions loaded onto my TD10, it's fantastic gone are the silly comedy sounds and duff kits replaced with stuff you can actually use, like the SDS-1

Thanks to Dave for all the help and having a laptop that runs something other than Win 98ME the worst OS ever invented, roll on the Mac at the end of the month.

does anybopdy know why Roland has this obsession with silly kits and noises? the TD-6 was filled with them, and the HPD-10 hand unit has only 5 permament instant access kits, and 5 user choice almost instant access kits...now, just guessing, I would think that the five most common hand drums would be congas, bongos, djembe, then maybe, i dont know, tablas, bdhorand (which isnt even available)..I dont know...but of that list only congas and tablas are on instant access: Roland wasted one of the instant access kits on one of their 'funny' collections, for some strange reason...

It really does seem like Roland could take a few extra minutes and deliver some stellar patches. We know from the VEx boys that it is capable of them.

My guess would be to get more interested in their V-Drum product. This is just a guess on my part, but using my family as an example it seems to have worked.

I am 42 years old and always wanted to play drums. My 2 boys, 11 & 9 are interested in music too. We had a chance to rent a set of V-Drums (TD6) just to see what it was like. Well the kids went nuts over the "funny" stuff. This worked out great in getting them interested. So much so, the wife approved of buying the TD9.

For us beginner types it is great having these "funny" sounds to play with and see what can happen. The more experienced we get, the less we use the funny stuff and look for the good sounding stuff, if that makes sense.

I could be wrong, and most likely am, but it worked for my family as it is a fight sometimes just to get to mess around with the kit.
