Some time ago (one year?), based on suggestions from the forum, I bought a CY-5 to replace the PD-7 hi hat trigger on our TD-8 kit. Up until recently, the response has been good and I've had no complaints.
However, she's complaining now that the hi hat has dead spots, even with the sensitivity turned all the way up. Does that sound like a worn out pad?
And if so, how long are these supposed to last? As a church kit, it gets used two days a week ( practice on Mondays, and services on Sunday ) for a total of about 4 hours.
Is this failure premature, or do I need to start budgeting for annual replacement of the hi-hat (and possibly other triggers)?
