  • Possible crosstalk?? or too much effect??

Hey guys, I have my kit dialed except for one thing now. For my first 4 toms, I get noise, almost exactly like real life snare buzz noise. It sounds kind of cool because it sounds like the noise an acoustic kit would naturally make, but how do I eliminate it!!?? I think its crosstalk, but I cant change any settings to prevent it.

    What module are you using?
If it is a TD12 or TD20, you can control snare buzz on your toms by pressing 'inst' (then hit the tom to adjust), 'F2' then 'F3' and go to 'Snare Buzz'. Turn it off or to 0 to remove the buzz.

And if it's a TD-10 module, what instrument sounds are you using for the four toms?

Thanx so much for the replies!!

I am using a TD-10 expanded and all PD-8 toms. I have 6 toms, so that means I have all 4 Tom inputs used and both Auxillary inputs too. The first 4 tom inputs are Birch toms that are heavily enhanced with V-editing (the tone is fantastic!) The Auxillary inputs for toms are: 1 maple floor tom and 1 stage tom. I customized the pitch and decay on these auxillary toms to match the rest of the kit.(No V-editing with Aux inputs )

*The first 4 toms have a noise after each hit that sounds like a mix of effect and snare buzz. I have a TD-3 kit frame (small), and fit 6 toms on it! They are basically touching each other by a hair. Its a tight fit. I tried moving them, nothing changed. I think it has to do with the effects or snare. I tried modifying effects settings and parameters but nothing fixed it.

I have no experience with the TD10 but does it have the 'snare buzz' feature on the toms that I explained in my previous post? If so, that's where I'd be looking.

Exactly!! I wish the TD-10 had the snare buzz gate, but it doesnt.

Try switching effects off for the kit temporarily at F3 (FX SW), then use the PREVIEW button to produce a Birch tom sound (to eliminate any possibility of pad crosstalk). If the buzz is still there then you're probably stuck with it as it's part of the original sample.

Is there something wrong with the Module or the expansion card? This noise on the toms cant be normal, cuz there are a lot of samples that dont make extra noise at all!!
