Locomotive Breath Intro, Tap Pattern

Here's what I've come up with:

It's actually three seperate tap patterns, each assigned to a different tom. I simply played em out while recording in order to give folks an idea of how the whole will sound.

I'm still not pleased with the run down on the keyboard--I added some notes not on the album and I need tighten up the performance angle on that.

Again, this was done with a MIDI controller in Cubase, then the VST stuff exported to my exp TD10 where I assigned different instruments and some effects on the send.

Hi Grog,

I downloaded your mp3 and imported it into ProTools - that all worked well and it does sound like Locomotive Breath, but done on a mixture of vibes, glock and organ with a bit of chorus - is that what you were aiming for?
(maybe a bit of clipping on the glock high transients)

But I was really looking forward to hearing you drumming like Clive Bunker..... (......in the shuffling madness......chic-a chic-a chic-a) - any chance you'll post the extended version?

Everything was layed down in Cubase using Edirol orchestra as the VST plug-in and done on the piano.

I then "recorded" it into the TD10 on 2 instruments (the backing instruments on page 152), the main one being #10, Vibraphone, the second more secondary one being #29, Accoustic Bass.

The send effects (again, done on the module) are from the "Underwater" kit from the exp TD10s list of kits. I should look at the wav form I recorded to see if I had any clipping. When I laid down the originals via a keyboard, there was none but that all could have changed after applying effects in the module.

Heh heh, as for the drum pattern, yeah, the song is really odd. While it's 4/4, the overall arrangement is typically quirky Tull.
