  • Never Intent On Using Td-12 For Gigs, Pm-10 Sufficient Amp?

i live in manhattan and any gigs i may or may not have in the future will be played on my tama starclassic.

the diff in price bw the pm-10 and the pm-30 is huge, so i gotta assume the diff in sound quality will also be huge.

i used to gig with a yamaha dtxpress III with the bad boy of rolad amps, the ol' cda-700 which was freakishly large and orange, but sounded great.

i just ordered my td-12 and if i order the amp with it i get a deal.

from experience, is the pm-10 sufficient for jamming in an apt or just showing off a new fill for your girlfriend? i mean, double-bass drumming losing a lot of punch with a smaller woofer, since output doubles often with an increase in the surface area of the woofer of less than 15%

    Welcome Frank,

I have the PM-10 that I play my TD-3KW kit through. If you just want to practice, play along with cds or your iPod, it work just fine.

For gigs the PM-10 is too small. You're right, there is a big price jump to the PM-30. IF you do want something bigger look for used amps, many e-(v) drummers use keyboard amps.

    Good luck.

Craigslist is always a good place to find Roland KC-XXX keyboard amps. Most folks recommend the KC-550 since it has a 15" driver. I found a KC-350 and KCW-1 sub for a total price of $450 off of Craigslist.

thanks for the welcome picksorsticks. ive been monitoring these forums for over a year but until i actually ordered myself some v drums, no need to do much more than read.

ive decided that since i already spent 350 bucks on sick earphones for my dtxpress iii, ill go with the pm-10.

however, thats only so i can trade in my kd85 for a kd120. my kit won even be here til tuesday and i guarantee u i have a kd120 before then. i played the kd85 and the 120 numerous times at the long island drum center and the 85 sucks if u consider its often only a price diff of 50 bucks if u were to buy them seperately.

its like at the movie theater, when they give u twice as much soda for 5.50 instead of 5.25
