  • Question about bass beaters

    Hi,

I just ordered a TD12 and read a review on musiciansfriend.com that standard beaters should not be used on these kits (I guess mesh bass drums in general?). Is this true? If so, what kind of roland bass beater should I get? I can't find anything anywhere.

    Thanks!!

Yes, no felt. But a plastic beater is included with the KD-85 of the TD-12K.

Yep. Doesn't have to be a Roland plastic beater, though. I've been using plastic beaters from DW for several years and FWIW, they are just fine.
      TD-50KV extended kit with KD-A22 kick, DW pedals/stands. SPD-30 and SPD-SX. TD-30 for additional triggers & layering. Muse Receptor 2+ Pro w/ SD v2.4.4.

Thank you for the info. Good to know that one beater comes with the kit!

General advice is to use a drum patch on the mesh head no matter what type of beater you choose.
