  • Hi Hat settings for an SPD-S

    Hi Guys,

I downloaded Mr. Stixx's mini kits and succesfully installed the wavs on to my SPD-S. All working and sounding great. Nice job Stixx!

Anyway, as for the hi-hat. I have connected my FD8 and I am getting good and correct sounds for hihat open and closed. But if a hi hat open is struck and then the FD8 pressed, the hihat continues to ring out rather than stopping as if the hi hat cymbals are presed together.

Is this a quirk of the SPD or can it be corrected using some clever settings? Help would be appreciated.

Bruce, Mr Stixx, M.Render must surely know this one!!! ;-)

Set the pad and pedal to the same Mute Group number at PATCH, EDIT, PAD CONTROL.

Roland US has full instructions for setting up an SPD-S hi-hat pad/pedal:

Using an FD-7/FD-8 foot controller [with an SPD-S]

    (Don't forget the chick!)

Bruce, would it be possible for you to put the details from that link into a word/pdf document? I can't get into the Roland Backstage thing.
