  • V-Cymbal Hi-Hat tweaks

I just received my V-session and have been happy with everything but the closed Hi-hat sounds. I need to tune it to my tastes. Can I get some advice on how to do this?

Press [inst] [edit] and tweak away.

Don't forget to play with(adjust) the decay. The ONLY "problem"

I've had so far was cross-talk from creash 1 when I hit the HH pad hard. I raised the crash threshold to 10 and eliminated the
        problem withot sacrificing performance.

BTW, does your KD-120 have a blue or black cone?

You know I RTFM and tried the edit stuff with decay and pitch. It still sounds dead. I wonder if something is wrong with the pad or is that the best they can sound. Does anyone have a V-session Hi-hat tuned well. If so give me the settings, I will try them. I think that something is wrong with the pad itself. The Hi-hat pedal sounds good. So I know the sounds in the TD-10 are fine for me. The kd-120 has a black cone. I haven't had the crosstalk problems yet.

If a sound is emitted from the TD-10 when you strike the pad, it's not the pad. All the pad does is tell the module that a pad has been struck. The sound is produced in the module, not the pad.

Seems to me there aren't as many "good" (realistic) hi-hat sounds as there should be, at least when compared to the snares, kicks, and toms.

Select the first hi-hat in the list, zero-out your tweaks, and play for a bit. Then select the next one. Go through the entire list of hi-hat sounds, noting the ones you consider "acceptable" with default settings. Then go back and tweak each of your selections until you're happy. One thing I've noticed is that too much tweaking will kill the sound on certain samples (but not all).
