  • TD8 vs TD10

    Hi,

I'm another newbie from the UK. I've been drumming for about 25 years (same band, mixture of worship and covers gigs, very little studio work) but only semi-semi-pro. I've reached a stage where I need to refresh my whole acoustic kit and I'm seriously thinking about v-drums. I've heard and played a TD10 kit and am confident that it would be just what I want (great sounds, volume control for Church and versatility for covers). IF I COULD AFFORD IT! But I can't.

I haven't yet tried the TD8-KV and I'm after some reassurance that the TD8 isn't too far removed from the TD10 when it comes to the quality of the sounds. I believe that the sounds on the TD8 are different from those on the TD10 even for preset kits of the same name. Has anyone compared the two brains? I'm happy with less functionality as long as the drums sound as good.

    Any advice gratefuly received.

    Hello and welcome!

There are lots of threads about TD8 vs TD10 on this forum - try using the search...

The sounds are not much different, the biggest difference is that the TD8 is a bit less flexible:
    - less outputs
    - less editable functions

However, if you like the TD10 but can't afford it, the TD8 will probably be fine. It is a great module, the drums are fine, and it is still very very versatile.

I'm sure other people will have different opinions though!

    Mike.
    p.s. where in UK?

p.s. you'll find that your P.A. / soundman etc makes more difference to the quality of what the audience hears than the module!

I found the old post. Should have looked harder before.

            Thanks for the advice too.

I think I'll be going for the TD8 as in a live situation I don't think the extra money for the TD10 will make enough of a difference to justify it.

Even a TD-6 will do the job...
