Importing Yamaha Elec Drums

Hi, I live in the UK, where we have a weird power supply and different voltage to the rest of Europe and the US. I'm just coming into electronic drumming, and was thinking of getting a Yamaha DTX kit to start of with. I've found a place in America that sells them really cheap, does anyone know what I'll need to run the module on a UK Power Supply? Does the plug actually come out of the back so it can be replaced or will it need rewiring? And will I need a step-down transformer? Any help greatly appreciated.

With regards to my post, I have just thought, would it perhaps be a better solution to import everything from the US except the module, and try pick up a cheap one over here? Or would there be no compatibility issues anyway? I am of course assuming here that (besides the speakers) the module is the only part of an E-kit that actually needs a power source.

If you import from the states, I believe you have to pay some kind of import duty as well as the original cost of the kit. Someone may know more than me about this.

Mucking about with the power supply on the brain will invalidate the warranty, so be careful! You could get a transformer to bring the power up to 240v, but it would need to plug into a UK stlye mains socket, and accept US stlye plugs.

You could save money by buying a brain and a rack, then just adding the minimum amount of pads you need. Expand when you can afford it.

Not actually Leeds, more Bradford, but since nobody in the country actually seems to have heard of Bradford despite it being the 8th biggest city in England. Do you know any good drum shops in Leeds with 2nd hand elec gear?

DTXtreme uses a wall wart, so all you have to do is get a European model wallwart and you're there.
