Would anyone know how comparable TD6K set is to the TD7 kit?

I guess most of us don't care much for the module but the new CY-6 cymbal looks pretty cool. Anyone seen them, got any thoughts on them? If they swing and they're quieter than the PD7s and 9s they could be great. I can't imagine they're functionally much different from the V-cymbals.

Musicians Friend is expecting a shippment of the CY-6 cymbals on 5-15. The street price is $99! They will "swing" like the V Cymbals and are dual zoned and "chokeable".

If I had to guess, concidering this new product line, I would say Roland is a tad upset with Yamaha and the DTXtreme.

    Howdy folks,
Word is that the td6k will list for about $1500, the sounds are right out of the td8, and the module is inexpensive because the kits aren't editable. From what I've heard, the set should hit U.S. stores this summer.

I don't know. But as soon as the kit is here, I will play one for you. Honest.

    Hey, Putt:

Have you heard anything about when Roland's supposed to release it in the Netherlands? I'm sure there's a lot of us on this site that would appreciate a hands-on assessment of the TD-6K from someone like yourself.

After reading some of the specs of the TD-6K on the Roland France site, I'm starting to think more and more that this may be a cool little piece of gear to have!

P.S.: Is it just me, or does the striking surface of the TD-6K's cymbal pads look identical to that of the new V-cymbals? Hmm......

According to the HC report, the 12" cymbals are dual trigger. That is surprising. I bet they will add those to the "new" V Custom kit I've heard rumors about.

It's turned up on Harmony-Central, for those who don't speak Italian.

It may be a cheap knock off and look really silly but this may be the lower-price entry into the V-universe that some people need. For people -- esp. young people wanting low-noise practice at home or at the dorm -- this may be ideal. But Roland doesn't release it here. Why not?

Might undercut the marketing of the 'new' (and pricier) purple and red sets? I would think this kit, as a low-price entry kit, would be more valuable to buyers than what is basically a purple V-pro.

And how bout that TD-6 cymbal? Looks like a UFO, but hey, it may be a lower-cost alternative to the new Session V-cymbals. Might work just as well too. Would love to try it out but it looks like my only choices are the insultingly expensive Session hi-hat, crash and ride. I wonder how that happened.

    Somewhere a cash register rings.

P.S. Don't get your wallets out yet for the new Session V-cymbals. Try them first if you can, or get your retailer to a 30-day return policy if possible. I've already tried them and I have reservations, esp. at those prices.
