Patches for V-Customs?

Does anyone know if the patches found on this page can be downloaded to V-CUstom set or are they strictly for V-Pro? If so, what is the process.

Unfortunately, I cannot imagine that Roland made them compatible. I have considered doing a 'text' version of the kit files so users could print out (or read on-screen) the settings and voices used in a kit - but would that even translate to the TD-8?

The first VDrum snare in the TD-10 instrument list is "Picolo1S" (#84). The last is "Jazz S" (#108). Does the TD-8 list those? Are they the same numbered distance (24) apart? If so, they may have taken some of the same instrument groups from the TD-10 over to the TD-8. Maybe???

Lee, I checked my TD8 last night and nope, no match or similarity in instrument number/name re the info you provided. Vsnares on the TD8 start at 130 and go to 235. Again, maybe we could get a page for TD8 patches?

Hello,
as I own a TD8 too, I'm very much interested in exchanging some patches/kit-files (I got some good ones, too).

My question is now, is there any place, where to up/download them ? Is Sound Diver compatible ? Can I use the *.td1 from www.vdrums.com ?

Yes sound diver works very well with the td-8
(you must use v2.01)all we would need is some sort of ftp access to trade file

I've been using MidiOx (freeware) for some time now and i've had no trouble uploading and downloading full dumps of my TD-8 settings, or partial kits/patterns.

I think this would be an easy way to share patches between TD-8 users. I'm not a MIDI expert but so far it's been easy. I mainly use it for backing up my settings in case i need to reset the brain. I would REALLY like to get some custom kits from anyone who would be willing to share.

If you want me to go thru the step-by-step, i'd be happy to, especially if it meant i could get some patches from you.

If you go thru midiOx and explain shortly, I'd like to share patches for TD8, too.

How about making a down-/upload-station at www.idrive.com. Then everybody who knows the name and password of the drive would be able to share patches easily. That would be cool.

Here's how I use MidiOx:

First, set up your MIDI ports under
Options | MIDI Devices
(Mine are set to my soundcard's Midi ports) then connect your TD-8.

To store dumps FROM your TD-8, use
View | SysEx | SysEx | Receive Manual Dump
then on your TD-8:
Setup | MIDI | Bulk | Exec
After the bulk dump is done, you'll need to save this file on your computer by pressing OK then
Display Window | Save As
and choose a file name. That's it.


To send dumps TO your TD-8, use
View | SysEx | File | Send SysEx File

You don't have to do anything to prepare the TD-8 to receive the dump.

One more MidiOx suggestion that is key:

If you are getting a "MIDI buffer full" error message on your TD-8 after sending a dump to your TD-8, you need to slow down the dump from your computer. I do this (there may be another way) by adding a pause after each F7 sent.

In MidiOx, go to
View | SysEx | Configure
select the "Delay after F7" checkbox.
I have the delay set for 60 msec.

If *I* can work this MIDI thing, I know *you* can. I am completely MIDI illiterate and I'm not a real drummer. Somebody, send me some new drum kits, please!

You guys could always use sequencers to save your kits then you would have no problem with the reqiured time delay (40ms) between messages sent.
All you need to do is record the dump then save it as a standard midi file ,just be aware that whatever kit number is dumped will be the kit that recieves the dump.
These files will be quite small and you could easily e-mail them to each other.
Just a thought if a lot of you are having trouble with these programs.
