New to V-Drums

OK! so I have been out of the loop for a few
(15-20) years. I was totally blown away when I found the roland kit. you remember the "new SIMMONS" kit, thats when I was last plugged in . WOW! I test this kit and what the hell has happened? Wait! I've played professionally! i've done studio work!,What exactly is this? I don't need to tune all day for some "schmuck" to come in and not like my sound for a $#%@$%% rootbeer commercial or a certain sound for a %%$#@()^$
optical commercial!
I'm in the process of buying a new "Custom" set, What do I need to know?
Yes! it's a common request ! that because I have no clue what you might be talking about.
It's a new "custom" set, byt it is a new td-10 included .
Please help!!

Welcome aboard. I know where you're comin' from. Although I never ventured into e-drums until last year (I've been playin' since the '60s) when I demo'd the V-Pros I was "hooked". I stumbled across this site after that "test-drive" and before my purchase. As suggested above, I read & posted questions. Maybe I was lucky in that the demo set was properly adjusted, because ALL of the negative info about them (the majority of it being h/w quality & expense) on this site was just not enough to keep me away from those things. I theorize it's sort of like falling in love with the foxiest hooker around, expensive, but oh, so satisfying, (yummy)!

You're lucky you found this site before you laid down your cash. I didn't find out about it until six months after I got mine, and I wish I'd had. I probably would have done things a little differently.

First of all, you state you're getting a 'Custom' set with a TD-10...well, I think the Customs come with a TD-8, so unless you're making a substitution you may want to check that.

This site is a great consumer's resource. You get actual users who thoroughly know their products. What they can do, what they can't, where to get them for cheap, what amp to get, how much to expect to spend, what's coming out in the next year, what to tell your wife...all the valuable insights into these wonderful instruments.

Don't worry about asking questions that you think might be repetitous or common. The folks here are patient. If they don't answer they'll tell you how to find out.

My guess is that you'll be spending a lot of time here. Welcome aboard.
