  • IMPORTANT TD-50 OWNERS ONLY DROP-OUT EXPERIENCE - PLEASE ENGAGE

TD-50 OWNERS ONLY: If you have experienced any drop-outs similar to what I mention below, please reply in this topic with your experiences.

This topic is NOT for discussion or owners who are NOT experiencing the issue. Please post ONLY IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DROP-OUT ISSUE.

I have been speaking with Drew regarding the drop-out issue. I personally feel it is a software polyphony/glitch issue somewhere within the module. I have experienced infrequent random drop-outs of the BD, CR2, SN, RD & HH. (those are listed from most to least in my experience)

In an effort to share with Drew/Roland what is going on across many TD-50 owner's experience, I am creating this topic where they can get a feel for what is going on. He has checked with their Senior Product Specialists to see if they are getting reports, and they are reporting there have been not calls regarding the issue. I know many here have stated they also experience the random drop-outs of many of the very pads/inputs I have mentioned.

    Thank you!
    Alan

TD-50 still leaves notes out after the update 1.06. Often when alot of sounds play at the same time. I play four on the floor KD with hihat figures (open and closed and have handclap and tambourine on the tom-rims while a crash is ringing out it seems to leave notes out... so I have to downgrade my playing to avoid this. A disgrace if I may say... And pretty embarassing live when the kick drops out and leaves a big hole in the music... And REALLY bad for the already ruined reputation of the TD50... My TD-20 still sounds better live and home... AND my Superior Drummer... Shame shame shame... after bying both TD-30 and 50 my liveperformances sound better from 2012... how is it possible?

Sounds like you need Foundations. lol

I agree with your assessment completely, regarding the issue.

Everyone, let's keep the topic discussion purely about the issue mentioned in replies moving forward.

      Thanks for your post.

I have had a lot of missed snare hits. This has improved for me after firmware 1.06. It still happens when doing rudiment exercises, but much less frequent than before.

I had a few missed chrashes, crash 2 on firmware 1.06, when they were in combination with my bass drum.
        Cheers,

I have noticed occasional Kick dropouts, can't really tell you if it happens when I'm hitting other pads, but its definitely happening, probably a couple of times a week. Which of course means I could never risk using this kit in a live situation.

I experience the BD drop out quite often. Seems to happen when the HH and BD or BD and Crash are hit with high velocity at the same time ( not sure but this is what it seems like it does ). Usually during a big build or fill which make its feel the we hit the brakes during live performance. This happens a few times a weekend during the 4 worship services i play for. A fix would be greatly appreciated. The Vex helped a lot with the sound but the drop outs have made me rethink my setup. [mod edit for topic content]

I had a drop out tonight on the right hand crash. I hit it in the center and nothing happened. I was jamming with a guitarist and going full bore, so i dont know anything other that i hit the crash and nothing happened.

By your replies, it's starting to appear they could track this down in the manner I have told them - BD/CR2/HH/SN.

Thanks for the replies guys. Please keep them coming as Roland will be reading this thread.

This is a bump, because I know there were a LOT more guys talking about experiencing the drop-out issue. Please share your experience regarding the topic, so we can get Roland to find and correct the issue.

Had another BD dropout this evening during worship. Almost positive it was a Crash 2, BD , snare hit at the same time.

I did have the odd kick drop out. Not played in a while still letting Tinnitus recover and decided to stay with 50..

I've had kick drum drop outs multiple times at shows. It does tend to be either at the same time as a crash or as my hi hat foot is going down with the snare hitting at the same time. Almost always most noticeable with four-to-the-floor beats.

Kick dropped out twice yesterday in a 15 minute period while recording. this is a real issue, i hope Roland do something about it.

Had yet another KD drop out during worship yesterday at the precise moment it happened the day before. Definitely during the ending of a big fill during the crash on beat 1. Crash 2, snare, Kick and Hi-Hat pedal at the same time. It is definitely reproducible. Only good thing thing about it is that I now know I can be very consistent in fills and timing lol. ROLAND!!!! This is quite the HUGE problem and needs to be addressed asap for those of us playing live and recording. Please get on top of this immediately before more turn to the dark side!!!

I'm glad to see many people are confirming, on multiple occasions, that this is indeed an issue. I've thought so since I received the module, but had been spending so much time modeling, that I hadn't really started playing regularly until a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure Drew will be sharing all this information with Roland, and hopefully we will hear something very soon.
