  • Yamaha DTX502 Drum Trig vs User Trig

On the DTX502 when you originally set it up, it asks you to input your kit and gives several options. The last two are Drum Trig and User Trig. Does anyone know what the difference is between those two? I've searched around but can't find it.

I know I can adjust the parameters on everything but wanted to have a good starting base. Just to give an idea, I've compared DTX522, Drum Trig, and User Trig on a 10" tom with a mesh head and Roland RT-10 trigger set to a snare setting basically doing the beginning of Dio's "We Rock" in my head with headphones on.

The DTX522 and User Trig were similar and the Drum Trig setting gave no dynamics at all, so I'll decided between the first two, but still wondering what the difference as far as entering drum trig vs user trig.

    Thanks for your help.

DrumTrig is a predefined set-up which assumes you are using triggers attached to acoustic drums. There are a number (16?) of UserTrig user-storage areas for your own trigger set-ups. In that way you create a number of user-defined kit-trigger set-ups and recall them at will should you decide to build your own kit of different pads/triggers that are not sold as a standard kit.

Thanks for the information. I'll be staying with the drum trig setting.
