  • Having issues connecting new cy-15r to RDB cable on td11

I NEED HELP! I just picked up a cy-15R but I am getting no connection when I plug it into the RDB cable on my td11... I have tried using the crash2 input but its not noticing the 3 way trigger. Help! I need this ride in my life and nothing in the manual talks about the RDB cable besides saying to keep it covered.
    Thanks

Do you have the pad type set to CY-15R?
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! ;)

I agree with Jman. Always start with the pat input type before doing other tweaks and trouble-shooting.

I'll give you an (albeit unrelated) example. I have 12" DIY pads with a center mounted Pintech foam tower trigger and a shell mounted rim trigger. I thought the PD125 trigger type should work fine. After it all, it's a 12" pad with Roland head and a center-mounted head trigger. Seems similar, right? NOPE. I had to use a PDX8 to get it to produce proper rim triggering. (Baffled me since the PDX pad has a side mounted head trigger, not center.) Once I did that, it works fantastically. My next approach will be to try mounting the rim trigger to the underside of the bridge that supports the head trigger, which is the way the PD125 is actually set up since the PDX module setting doesn't support positional sensing, which I'd like for my TD-25.

In sum, whenever troubleshooting a triggering issue, I start with trigger type, then explore other settings.

Again, what cable are you connecting it to that didn't work ?
In the crash 2 you won't get the 3 zones, you can only get either bow+edge or bow+bell, depending which of the inputs on the cymbal you plugged it to.
For the 3 zones you need to use the dedicated ride cable pair (RD+RDB) and plug each to the corresponding jack on the cymbal.

+1 on what pumpal said. A three-zone ride requires two separate stereo input jacks (theoretically a a total of 4 inputs), and they're linked in a particular pair. You can't get a 3-way ride to work without these two input jacks specifically.

They certainly did a poor job on the TD-11 manual. They don't even go into a written explanation of hooking up the three zone ride. It didn't even cross my mind that someone wouldn't realize that both the Ride cable and the Ride bell cable would need to be hooked up. I thought that would be obvious, two cymbal jacks on the CY-15R, and two Ride cables from the module? ...... But at any rate .... With the TD-11 .... the RDB cable is only good for hooking up to the Bell jack of the 3 zone ride cymbal. It cannot be used by itself for a separate cymbal. Hook the Ride cable to the Bow/Edge jack of the CY-15R, connect the RDB cable to the Bow/Bell jack of the CY-15R. And make sure you choose CY-15R as the pad type in the module.

I just got myself a TD17 KVX. When I plug in the ride cymbal connections in the correct order that is the RDB jack to the bell input and the RD jack to the edge input of the CY13R, the cymbal seems to get self chocked. The entire cymbal sounds chocked and like a piece of rubber with minimum cymbal like sound. But when I reverse the input jacks in the incorrect order, the cymbal sounds fine but the edge and bell zones are reversed. Almost the entire cymbal triggers the bell and only a tiny portion of it triggers the edge. Even in the assignment section when I hit the bell of the cymbal, the Cymbal assignment screen shows RDE making it even impossible to correct the assignment.
Has anyone faced this weird issue before? Can someone help to find a way out?
