MArio developed the hardware for Jambe, but it looks like they parted company. There are now two similar products, one mainly for iOS, the other more suited to universal Midi.

          It's a "hand drum".

In other words, these "hand drums" SHOULD have at least a kick and HH input. I have the HPD-20 Handsonic, and I LOVE the versatility I get out it because it has those inputs. I turn it into a full traditional drum kit for small gigs. I set up in less time than the guitarists!

Looks like it is intended to be plugged into the DITI to power it's FSRs and control its parameters. Plenty of inputs there for anything you want to add.

The twelve FSR pad layout of the jamKAT was designed specifically for hand percussionists Allowing for natural hand movements gestures and techniques found in playing instruments such as congas bongos tabla tambourim etc This instrument has an amazing feel response and dynamic range thanks to

Sledgehammer to crack a nut! So, that would be an additional $500 for an extra box to lug around with 24 inputs, just in case I might want to use my feet to play some grooves too (as many drummers tend to)?

Hmmm. The Handsonic looks better and better!

Yep, it doesn't look like a standalone product. It's MIDI out, so you'll need a module or computer for it to make sound.

Aha, It's a multi pad and you play with it with your hands.
                      It's a "masterbeater"!
Sorry, it had to be said!

Do bongos come with a kick and HH?

That's not the point. Many percussionists who play bongos play lots of other instruments at the same time. In today's world, there's no reason to have a stand-alone hand electronic drumming instrument. Throw in a couple inputs and make it more versatile. Simple.

Totally agree. It wouldn't surprise me to eventually see Alternate Mode release the jamKAT version 2.0 with onboard soundcard and a couple of inputs added.

I think you're missing the point here. It's like someone launches a new pedal bike and people criticise it for not having a built-in microwave and washing machine. The jamKAT is a specific product aimed at a specific market. It's not a kit replacement. Alternate Mode makes other products like the the drumKAT and the trapKAT that have those functions. This is a different product.
