  • Another newcomer: HXM drums

Seems the e-drum market is expanding even more.

While looking at the GoeDrum video from the other thread, I saw another kit in the Youtube suggestions... had to click!

It's a company from Thailand this time.

To my eyes, that HD012 looks very nice. The clear cymbals are really good looking, the pads look like a white version of the old Yamaha pads that came with the DTXtreme II. Could be a potential to install them into regular shells, like I've seen done by another before.

Again, the module sounds are really so-so. But from the couple of videos I've seen, that module has potential. It has sliders like my DTX700, MIDI out, a rolling button to get through the menus, ...

Unfortunately, their website offers very little information. Same with their FaceBook page.

I'd love to see one for real, or maybe Digitaldrummer has seen one?

Oh, and by the way.... it sells for 33,000 baht, which is $950 us. Now, that's a winner kit for the price!

Thanks for sharing this. No, I haven't seen them, but I will make a point when I'm in Singapore later in the year. The store that posted that video also sells XM and GoEdrums. Should be interesting to see them all side-by-side.
And I am currently organising some review samples from Go

      Cool.

If you could, try to ask if they know the kind of triggers they use in their pads. They look so similar to the old Yamaha pads, it would be amazing if they were piezo-switch-switch as it would give us, Yamaha module owners, the first ever alternative to the original Yamaha pads.

I tried to ask the company directly, but no replies yet.

Would be interesting to find out more about this kit and the pad tech as Perceval has mentioned.

Distribution would possibly be very limited from what I assume is a small operation.

Here's part of the reply I got from them today:

Well, the snare 12" 3 zones is 100 % compatible with your module but not Roland module ( actually we can modify the cable for Roland user)
We have 3 zone and mute from 8-14"
Material is rubber same touching with Roland , FYI Hxm do OEM and make pad for many brand in the market you can check Alesis DM5 with our HD 008
we also have XM mesh head e drum /pad if you like better touching
I'm quite excited about the 3-zone snare being compatible with Yamaha. I asked them if I could get one shipped to Taiwan.
Also, I was interested in the 8" cymbal to be used for FX on the kit. I asked them a unit as well to test it out.

If I get them, I'll post some impressions about them.

Oh, and I gave them Allan's email to get in touch with Digital Drummer.

              Well,

              I have a 12" 3-zone snare and a small 8" cymbal coming my way.

I'll post some impressions when they get here.

HXM is actually made in China. The brand is quite popular there among beginners due to their low cost as compared to Roland & Yamaha.

The kit in the video is $1499 according to the website, their economy model with rubber pads except for the snare is $999 (link attached), either way looks interesting. I wonder how their mesh pads are, but I thought Roland had a patent on it, which is why you don't see mesh pads from any other company?

The kit in the video (HD-012) is $1,500 Singapore dollars. Which converts to $1,085 US dollars.

The one in your link is $720 US dollars.

Very reasonable pricing if it triggers well, and sounds ok!

                            Funny you'd ask!

I just got them this afternoon... 2 days late because of the typhoon (hurricane) we had over here.

I'll do a full on review later... but for now all I can say is: the snare pad triggers very well, and is indeed fully compatible with Yamaha's way of triggering, so I get all 3 zones on the snare: head, cross stick and rimshot.

And the small cymbal is... pretty much the most beautiful e-cymbal I have ever seen. Gorgeously made and the finishing is impeccable.

I have a couple of questions to ask them before I can get publish the whole story on these.

                            Hang on!
