It can be rather embarrasing. Some time ago while we were playing, and i knew some people were watching me, i did this huge roll around the kit and whacked both cy 8 s and the kick at the same time and both cymbals didnt trigger - i wanted to crawl under the carpet it was so embarrasing!! Haha

Reduce Xtalk Cancel for the CY-8 inputs at SETUP, TRIG BASIC:

If the value is set too high, then when two pads are played simultaneously, the one that is struck less forcefully will not sound.
So be careful and set this parameter to the minimum value required to prevent such crosstalk.

Ah, good to know. I've never split Roland inputs whereas with my DTX502, yeah, they're split like mad.

This can happen if you split a Roland input. I don't think that's whats happening in this case, but if you have two pads on one input, they cancel each other out if hit at the same time.

Yunno, this might help me on the Yamaha side. I need to look again at my Xtalk settings for the cymbal in question. I'm betting it's set too high because of its sensitivity to crosstalk with the non-Yammie pads on the kit.

I figured you'd find something in a Roland manual that would address the Roland question tho.

Hmmmm, this is something you raised in the other thread that discussed it more in a Yamaha context.

I've never seen the "bang two cymbals together and one cancels the other out" result in a Roland module. That's not saying it can't happen but I can't recall without UTFSE anybody bringing it up over the years. You really need to test and troubleshoot this more precisely.

Yes the CY-8 can be crap but I'd hate for you to ditch it or open it up needlessly.

Probably setting the module back to factory settings (do a reset), then see what happens. Better yet, swap out a pad with the CY-8 before resetting. Something uber reliable like a PD-7. If it stops, you don't hafta reset and know it's the cymbal. If it does happen, reset, keep testing.

Most mistriggers with cymbals occur with the CY-8. Its a crappy cymbal used on the low end kits to make them less expensive. The other Roland cymbals tend to not have issues, so the answer to your question is no.

That's not quite the right question. There isn't any such thing as a "TD-30" cymbal. Now, there are CY series cymbals that come with a TD-30 kit.

Now that we've gotten that straightened out, the module in this situation doesn't matter. If you've got a crapping out CY-8, it'll still mis-hit and mis-trigger no matter what module you put it on.
