  • Roland cymbal downtube diameter? Roland MDH-10U diameter?

I need a cymbal holder with an 8mm thread (rather than the annoying 6mm thread on my Roland cymbal holders). It looks like I probably need to swap out the entire unit (meaning downtube + boomrod) rather than just a screw or the boomrod / arm (the whole unit costs about the same as just the boomrod/arm, so...). I was planning on using either a Gibraltar SC-4425B-1 (7/8" diameter downtube) or a Gibraltar SC-3325B-1 (3/4" diameter downtube). I will be using this with a Roland MDH-10U clamp. But for the life of me I can't figure out whether the MDH-10U is 7/8" diameter or only 3/4". Does anyone know? Or does anyone know the standard Roland downtube diameter?

    Thanks!
    Adam

also.. you can make a simple gauge to measure the diameter of the tube you want to use.

        need:
        ruler,
        card stock,
        pen/pencil
masking tape (if card stock is difficult to write on)
scissors (something to cut card stock)

mark off card stock in two places - one for 3/4" the other for 7/8"
cut out a 3/4 inch and a 7/8 in slot in card stock

fit to tube to see what it is.

another tip: I have also used an open ended wrench the same way.

Good idea, thanks. I started out just trying to measure with a ruler, but I was very skeptical of my ability to eyeball it accurately. The idea of cutting slots makes sense. I actually have a...well, the name escapes me right now, but it's the exact tool you use to measure things like this (it has a digital readout), but the battery died and I haven't been able to go buy a replacement yet. Anyway, thanks for the tip!

The MDH-10U is a pad mount, consisting of an MDC-10U Clamp and an L-rod- The MDC-10U Clamp can also be used to hold a cymbal mount with a 7/8" diameter.
