  • What is a td20-kx kit worth these days, in great condition?

Hey folks, I'd like to trade in my td20-kx kit for the newer td30-kv. A couple of questions: 1. Should I bother or just get the newer brain? 2. What is a td20-kx kit worth in a trade in these days, if it is in really good shape? Thanks Sean

That probably depends on what is important to you. Is it the looks, the sound or both?

Roland TD30 module on TD20 kit SD3 with various kits. Pearl Masters Kit, Yamaha 9000RC original natural wood finish. Cymbals from Zildgian Pasite and Sabian. Loads of percussion bits. Cubase and Wavelab always current versions.

rack, pads and cymbals are all the same with the exception of the pads having different trigger plates (same triggers). also improved is the vh13 high hats with the improved motion sensor. best to just upgrade the module and maybe the high hats.
however, the td 30 is about 70% td20x but does have usb connectivity and more instruments sounds such as snares, kicks, toms and cymbals but has a lot of the sounds borrowed from the td20x. the new trigger plates can be had for about 11.00 per set if you want to do the mod to the pads.

I've got a TD20-SX and I would think I could sell my module and get another (minty used) TD30 module for a difference of about 600 - 700 dollars. To sell my kit and get a new kit would be closer to 2500 dolarrs not counting replacing the two new CY14C-SV I've added to get the newer counterparts.

An upgrade to the module may happen soon, not so much for the kit. I"m good there.

Thanks for the comments. The local store offered $2000 in trade in (Canadian) which is way lower that some suggestions above and did seem pretty cheeky to me. I did read that petty much the brain and hihat had only changed. I do find the current hihat just ok.

Trade in value is about half of the resale value. Most dealers only offer half of what they can sell the kit for. So you may be able to get ~4000 for it.
I think my work is done here.
