  • VH-11 Problem - Please help!

    Hi Guys,

Seems I have a problem with my Hats. Im unsure what exactly the problem is. The problem started on the TD9, and continues on the TD30.

The problem is this - Whilst hitting the edge of the VH-11 (when Im playing it open) sometimes one of the hits registers as though the hats are closed. I was thinking it was possibly because the hats move so much when I hit the edge, but its never been like that before.

Does anyone have any suggestions? It doesnt happen every time. So it's really annoying! I will be upgrading to a VH13, but I just bought the TD30 module, So it will have to wait a while!

If required, I can make a video of the setup, or take photos if anyone wants to see anything if they can possibly help!

    Thnakyou!

Sounds like the edge is " choking" at times .likely rubber granular building up under the edge. It's a well known issue. Look for the threads searching " pixie dust".
There will be cleaning procedures for it

Cheers for the answer... I fixed the problem today. It was a very simple fix - I bought a VH-13

On a serious note, once the VH-13 is up and running I will be having a go at getting rid of said pixie dust - I will post up if it works!

I had the same issue for a while, one day it just went away. Strangest thing is that it would only happen with my left hand.
With my right no matter how much I tried I couldn't duplicate it.

Your posting caught my attention because just a couple of days ago I posted my own thread about flakiness with my VH-11. (http://www.vdrums.com/forum/advanced...-flaking-on-me)

Not exactly the same problem you describe, but checking the clutch according to Roland's exact instructions is something you might want to try before going to the more invasive step of peeling open the edge of the cymbal (which I sense you'll probably have to do).

In case you do ultimately go there, here's a video of someone who shows you how to fix that problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtzHCfeJp-o

Out of curiosity, would you say that you play the edge of your HH a lot?

I also went from a VH-11 to VH-13 it was night / day difference and well worth the expense. The VH-11 with the TD-9 was a fine match coming from the standard CY-5. I never experienced any issues with the VH-11 but it just didn't feel right with the TD-30.
I think you will enjoy it!

Can you elaborate on the night/day difference please? In particular, the VH-13 on the TD9 since that's the module I have. Who knows, I might want to go the same way. Thanks!

Well, I have just received my VH-13. It is a big step up from the VH-11. I played the VH-11 on the TD9 for a couple of years, but upgraded to a TD30 module. However, As far as I am aware, the VH13 does not work with the TD9.

Oh, and yes, I play the edge a lot on my HH!

Never used the vh13 on the td9. No setting for it. Was speaking about on the td30. Sorry!

Great thing about the vh13 vs vh11 once set up you hardly ever have to re adjust. On the vh11 almost every session you have to re set it.
