i can't get a closed hihat sound with my td-4 drumset. hihat faulty

I have had my TD-4 drumset for about a year and a half now. The past couple weeks out of nowhere the hihat would start making noises by itself when I wasn't even playing the drumset (I was playing through a guitar amp) and sometimes the open hihat sound would be generally weak. I tried adjusting the sensitivity setting but that didn't help.

Now I can't get a closed hihat sound even when the foot pedal is pressed down. I'm using a fd-8 hihat pedal and CY-5 hihat cymbal if that helps.

Normally when a problem like this happens I would say check your Hi Hat cable/cables. Unfortunately with the TD-4 it is a cable harness, so obviously you would need to plug in a different cable harness to check, not cheap even used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roland-TD-4-...item2c96d21c95
So the first thing you may want to do is a factory reset. See if anything changes. A faulty power adapter can cause some funny things like that too. I would disconnect and reconnect all the cables at the module and pads, especially the HH pedal and HH cymbal, just for the heck of it. Troubleshooting you need to go one step at a time. Module reset. Cables, Power adapter, HH pedal, HH cymbal (you can swap with a different cymbal just to be sure that HH cymbal is OK .... check that CY-5 on a crash cymbal input, try one of your crashes on your HH cable) ..... and last but not least the module itself ....
You could also check your FD-8 by hooking it up to a different module. If you have a Guitar Center near by, take your FD-8 and CY-5 with you and ask them if you can test them out on their TD kit.

I did some troubleshooting and it seems that the HHC cable is faulty.

Will you please let me know what did you do finally? Buy the complet set of cables again as I assume I will have to buy the entire cable harness (i think that is what it is called)
