Vdrum Snare Sounds

I really enjoy the high pitched "crack"
of a snare drum backbeat by some the popular
funk drummers. Is there a special setting
other than using the funk drummer kit to
achieve that smokin' "crack" snare sound.

Don't know what module you are using, bro, since it isn't mentioned in your sig line or the text of the message, but what I like to do in my TD-10 is to find the snare patch that sounds closest to what I want, then work with the internal EQ on that specific instrument to bring out the frequencies I'm looking for.

For instance, your idea of "crack" might be in the 2Khz range, where someone else's might be around 5Khz or so. Play with parametric equalizers & you can probably get just the result you're looking for. Be sure to adjust (if you're able) the bandwidth of the parametric eq, as well as the center frequency and amount of boost.

On the TD-6 & 8 there is a Slap Snare (or clap snare) that has a pretty good "crack" mixed in with the snare sound.

Try the "Booth" snare, #664. You can tune it up and tweak the EQ to get a great "Crack" sound. Of course...... it's all dependent on the sound system you're using too.
