Midi question

Does anyone know if it's possible to adjust the TD8 group faders via MIDI? I can't find anything in the sysex chart apart from the pad volumes.

No, I don't think it can be done that way. I think the only possibility with midi is to raise velocity of the instrument that you want higher volumes.
If you are using a sequenceprogram (such as cubase or cakewalk) and you split each instrument to a different track, then you can use the sliders of the (build in) mixer from your sequenceprogram for changing the volume.

Not even for the master volume? I suppose the volumes are all just analogue pots so they can't be controlled digitally. Kinda makes it hard to write a decent software editor though.

Hmmm, I wonder if there are any undocumented registers in there...

Haven't tried, but there is a difference between volume and velocity, both of which most modules support changing via midi.

velocity may (and probably will) change the tone of the instrument, where as volume leaves the velocity in tact to the original performance. There is a time and place for each.

Controller 7 is usually your volume, so modifying it for a particular track will probably bring the overall volume for that channel down, but not the individual drum instruments within the track, where I usually use veolicity, as if it is going to be quieter, it should be more naturally quieter, which lowering the volocity helps with. beating the hell out of a snare and then tunrning its volume down usually sounds "wrong".

But you can probably get to the individual elements as well...you can with most midi devices, via either RPN/NRPNs or sysex. Check the midi implementation chart in the back of the manual (if you dare...it all in hex and kinda cryptic if you're not familiar with them)
