  • Song of the Day

Just an idea...I want this thread to be a place where folks post a song of the day, either YouTube vid or mp3 or whatever. And NOT to post all time favs, but rather, OBSCURE STUFF that others might never know about unless they hear it here! Choose whatever artist you like. I look forward to hearing what other Forum members are listening to and to hear some new tunes!

I'll start with a Swiss band named Gotthard. They are excellent musicians and unfortunately, their lead singer died tragically in Oct 2010. Here's the link. They have anew singer now and are still playing.

But, here is a COVER song from them in one of their greatest concerts ever. I chose this song since a lot of people know it but it still showcases their talent. Also, the drummer is playing a trick little pattern on the kick drum. Enjoy!!!

Here is an ancient tune from a cool guy I was only recently introduced to - Buzzy Linhart.

Here is a pretty nifty group from the late '60's, which I stumbled onto late last year - Kaleidoscope

And finally, two songs from one of my favorite groups from the sixties - Blodwyn Pig. One of the first groups to mix rock, blues, and jazz. And in "See My Way", a little classical with its wee "bolero" break.

And the glorious "Dear Jill" with 7-string slide guitar and lovely drumming:

Today's lesser known entry..... Devon Townsend - Deadhead

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaKvwsl2rmw

There is a TON of his stuff, not all of it sounds the same like this selection, feel free to explore.

              Here's the song Sunday Afternoon...

              Definitely an artist. Enjoy!!

The former lead singer of the Tubes, Fee Waybill, went solo way back in the 80's and had a few great musicians with him, like Steve Lukather on guitar. Check it!!

Okay, today's submission, a band that's taking the scene by storm, Vintage Trouble. Very energetic. Very James Brown-like.

                            Hmmm......strange mix of 3 decades(70's/80's/90's) of styles.....I'm on the fence....but I don't hate it.
