  • This is Elvis Costello. The guy that wrote the previous number, Girls Talk. This is in the same vain and just an easy listening number.

The drumming is tight on both numbers.

                    • Here is one for blues fans. He is one of my favorite modern blues players: Johnny Lang. I really like this guy. This is also more for guitar fans, though this is a drum forum, music is universal.
And this is also something that I at times turn my students onto when I try to teach them that some-times, though not always, less is more. The drummer is in the pocket, in the group, dead on timing, a lot of good stuff going on, without a lot of over-needed-flair.

                        • Nice one Guru. Great one to share mate.

Love anything bluesy. I cut my teeth on the stuff back in the 60s. Rock Blues was my thing but all the original stuff was there to exploit.

If it was'nt for John Lee Hooker and B B King etc, I dont know where we would be today. Bessie Smith, Elmore James and so many more, to many to mention.

                          The blues is my soul

                          .

                          • Here is one to get the juices flowing!!! Almost got my band to play this one but they voted on a different song by the same band, the song Second Chance. The bass player and keyboard player got woodies over Second Chance for some reason where I was stimulating myself over Devour. I asked them who they thought was gonna sing it and they just stared at me. Funny. Our main lead singer (I say main because I only do about 30% of the songs on lead, rest is backing stuff) has tried it and isn't quite sure he's gonna do it. Guess I better get ready just in case. Good thing I'm a crappy drummer and don't have to play hard while singing.....can't leave my day job just yet lol.

Here is another ear-gasm, though more guitar oriented, it is one of the best guitar solos in history IMHO, and one of the best guitar players in history, and the drums and simple and locked in and grooving (a la Ringo, Charlie Watts, 99% of hit records in history, etc...), without too much over-playing "look at me and how fast I am" stuff; listen and ear-gasm:
