  • Steven Slate Drums 3.0 Video

Here's a video I did of Steven Slate Drums 3.0 at NAMM 2009 with V-Drums. It sounded pretty good, punchy and fat as hell. The drummer, Glen Sobel, was fun to watch playing doing drumstick tricks on those V-Drums. Check it out:

Thanks for the link. I wish the sound was better (since that is really what it is all about) but that is NAMM videos for you!

      Do not get me wrong:

I have in my plans Steven Slate .... but the video has a lot of stick and background noise.. and I would love to see less "trickery" with the sticks .. and more "demo" with the dynamics/vdrums .... toms .... kick .. cymbal swells .... different zone for the crashes? and all those things that make playing vdrums the pleasure it ls nowadays ..

      Maybe in the next vids?

Yeah, not much you can do with NAMM videos but you can see a product that has not even been released yet.

When the BFD2 version comes out I will have videos with all the high quality sound and with songs.

Thanks man. Looking forward for the BFD2 videos.

I do not know if will be patient enough though to wait for the BFD2 exp... maybe will try out Steven Slate's as soon as it comes out.

Here's another video of Glen Sobel Rockin out with Steven Slate Drums 3.0. This is actually recorded at Slate Studios and is one of 6 or 7 vids Steven has recorded to demo SSD 3.0. I actually did all of the programming for SSD 3.0 and to see Glen makin sweet drum porn with the program and to see how well the thing works has made me quite a happy camper. There should be a ton of new videos as well as the retail release of SSD 3.0 in the next week or two.

At this stage I'd have to say I am more than happy with my TDW-20 and SD2 combinations but that Old Zeppy kit sounds awesome

Holy sh!t the old zep kit sounds good. Thanks for posting those videos.

Pimenta, you have the slutiest sample library and now you are gonna get this too??

I'm also really really wondering whether or not I should wait for the BFD2 version, but don't you think it would be fun to combine something like Joe Barresi's Glamouflage Quickpack with Steven Slate's 3.0??

After a lot of trial and error, I think you can't go wrong with either Platinum Samples or SSD

What do you need to run SSS 3.0? I checked out the site but couldn't seem to find much detail.

                        Thanks

Someone should correct me if I am wrong, but I think the engine is a modified version of Kontakt by Native Instruments. Checking their site might provide some clue.

Yeahh dreamsounds.. I am not faifthful at all :-) ... but to my ears what I hear on Steven Slate is a different animal from que Gamouflage .... and the other BFD2 libraries.

They might mix well if some treatment/processing is given to them.

You can combine bits and pieces .. but the result is not the same (different rooms/ambiences/eq) if you do not "treat" them.

The only thing I am afraid about Steven Slate is ... I am an amateur musician ... maybe 1 million dollar sounding drums will not mix well with my poor guitar playing .. or maybe it is the opposite it might get me inspired to improve .. anyways .. options...options ...

I think you are right Joe ... about their platform. Regarding waiting for the BFD2 version .... I lost count on how many updates we had for BFD2.... do not know if I will wait much longer to get STeven Slate... since people over fxpansion forums are still complaining about crashes... and so on

The only crash reported with BFD2 is when using Cubase 4.5.2 I believe -- 2.1 has a great new "Load on demand" feature which reduces RAM usage significantly.
