  • Addictive Drums - ADRetro Add-on

Well I'm so impressed with the sound of the Addictive Drums Retro add-on pack that I decided to create my first basic recording for your listening pleasure. Basically I've been through Ezdrummer, BFD 1+2 (demos), Addictive Drums, Superior 2.0, but now I have found what in my opinion is the nicest sounding sampled drum kit... may I present one of the Led Zep presets from the ADRetro Adpak (slightly customised):

Note: This is basically me improvising with a few different styles cut together into one mp3. Please note that I'm still a mere pup when it comes to drumming experience, so please forgive any dropped beats!

Kit list in the sample: Ludwig Blue Oyster, Paiste 2002 Hats, Ludwig Supraphonic 402 14x6.5", Meinl Byzance Dark 21" Ride, Sabian and Paiste cymbals.

Yeah, that Meinl ride is about the best-sounding cymbal I've got and that includes dozens of BFD rides . The Retro ADpak is indeed superb. You get all kinds of Bonham kits, Ringo kits, Motown. Mitch Mitchell - basically every kind of Pop/Rock sound from the 60's and 70's is there. The totally dry kits are killer, too. You gotta love the 4 toms with every kit thing with AD - wish more companies would follow suit.

      Good job.

I've got my eye on AD for some time .... the Retro Pack looks promissing. Nice thing about it are the presets ..fx .. sound like ready to go.
Unfortunately I cannot hear the demo .. it asks for an account .... how are you guys working with the hi=hat issues/mapping? You are changing notes on the module or using a MIDI mapper?

            Pim,

On the File Factory page, scroll down until you see option 2 - basic service, free download.

I use the edrum MIDI mapper with AD, but I know several users that just map their module. Some have trouble and others don't, but it definitely works great with the mapper.
