  • Superior drummer 3 no preset for Roland TD-17

Recently picked up a Roland TD-17 electronic kit that I am using with superior drummer 3. I realize there is no preset for this line of modules and was wondering what preset works best with them?

My second question would be with no positional sensing in the module would randomizing the hits make for a much more real sound?

I am using the drums for recording and the end goal is to make everything sounds real.

    Thanks.

Just try one of the other Roland settings. They all tend to be similar. I donít think ps would be a big deal unless you are going for a jazz sound
Roland TD30 module on TD20 kit SD3 with various kits. Pearl Masters Kit, Yamaha 9000RC original natural wood finish. Cymbals from Zildgian Pasite and Sabian. Loads of percussion bits. Cubase and Wavelab always current versions.

On your computer you need to assign where the audio out is going. More info is needed on your setup.

Just use another Roland one and tweak it. You usually have to anyway if you have added any extra Timís or cymbals. Itís really easy to do. The presets just get you started and itís not really a big deal. As I said before the preset is really just note numbers and not trigger settings. These have to be done on the module.

Are most of you going to a amp or PA system or just earbuds. I go out of the TD-17 module to a da200s using SD3 and it sounds ok but sometimes it over drives the Toms. Is there a go between the module and amp you guys use or do you mess around with the module setting s at all . IE usb gain adjust any help is appreciated .thanks . John

I haven't noticed the toms overloading the signals but I'm using an RME usb interface for audio. Maybe consider bringing the levels in SD3 mixer down. and amp higher if possible, or put a mixer in line to Boost the signal before it hits the amp.
