  • Ezdrummer, few questions.

After good advice from one of the members here I tried to connect midi cable to the mac, and installed ezdrummer demo. I have to say that indeed it is eye opening, it seems that the possibilities is endless! . However few thing is unclear: 1) In the demo the amount of cymbals/drums is very limited, for example in the hihat section there is only two. Is it possible to add more? If so how? 2) is it possible to play the computer drums through the td3 Module? ( e.g not to connect the headphones to the computer but to leave them connected to the td3 module) 2) I also saw that there is another software called: superior drummer. From the same company, which one is better?

    1) EZdrummer (there is now an update, EZdrummer 2) has limited instruments, but you can buy additional expansion packs.
    2) NO, that's not possible - and why would you want to listen to the computer sounds through your module anyway?
    3) Superior is ... well, superior - and more user-friendly for e-drummers. You can edit the MIDI maps, choose articulations, etc.
You might also consider Addictive Drums, which is a great program for VST beginners.

If i recall, the samples in an EZ Drummer EZX pack are 16 bit, where Superior Drummer SDX uses 24 bit samples. Also, I noticed when I installed an EZX Latin Percussion pack into Superior Drummer, the dynamic levels are much less. Not sure what the correct term is... but there were less samples mapped to the velocities I was hitting, so it seems more quantized. I think for a recording situation using EZ, it wouldn't matter to much, but when you are using it as a 'live' instrument with your ekit, you can really feel and hear the missing dynamics.

You can listen to the computer sounds through your module with a TD-11/15/30. I do this because it allows to add the nifty module metronome - it's far better than the Solo metronome and easier to handle whilst practising.
        TD-11 with 1xPDX 100 and 2x 12" drum-tec Diabolo pads, VH-11, CY 15R, CY-8 + various VSTi's.

Can you just connect your computer sounds to mix in socket of your TD3?
Of course you need to turn volume down on the internal sounds too.
