Does anyone know where I could get a list of settings for kits for the td6 to get sounds that match current bands? I don't really like the ones that come preset on the brain.
Thanks!
You can use this site as a reference for what drums certain drummers use when your creating your own kits. It's not very complete but it has "gear used" for a ton of musicians.
I thought of this about 8 months ago but never mentioned it. It would be cool if we had a reference chart of module settings to match specific equipment. That would allow us to create our own kits containing whatever we wanted. Like V shopping. ii
I would like a 6X14 Stewart Copeland piccolo or whatever. So look at the chart fo the TDW-20 and get all the snare paramiters.
I will even put up a basic site for it if I can get all the input (settings) from you guys. Drums and cymbals for various modules. ii
paladin, that is an AWESOME idea. There are so many times where I would like to match a specific bands drumkit but dont have the time or knowledge to make it happen on my TD12.
Again, that's why VEX is the best thing you can do for your kit and for yourself. Great sounds, little effort, big value!
I have nothing at all against VEX (I mention them in my sig) but would it not be nice to just have parameters that we can all share for free? If someone creates a snare that sounds like one you can purchase, would it not be nice to just program it?
I really do not feel like paying $50-$75 just to get one instrument. Also we cannot mix and match with VEX, you have to buy the entire kit set even if you only want one drum or cymbal.
Vex can be left for those that want entire sets of kits. I am probably going to buy the first one for the TDW-20 myself but would still like the option to put my own kit together.
VEX will program custom expansion packs to your specifications. You pick the sounds you want, they put it together. They'll even make custom kits according to samples you send them.
Granted... this costs money; but for those who don't have the time, patience, knowledge, etc., it's a great service they're offering.
Using VDrumLib, you can mix and match specific instruments to create your own custom kit. Whether you're using VEX or your own personally tweaked sounds.
(disclaimer: I am not an employee of VEX, a family member, nor connected to them in any way... just a satisfied customer that highly recommends them)
