  • Can't open VKitTrans - Please Help!

I tried downloading the VkitTrans program a couple of times, and every time I attempt to double click open the .exe file, an error message dialog box pops up ans says "A required .DLL file, MXMIDI32.DLL, was not found. How do I correct this problem? I would really like to download/upload patches for my TD-10.

    Thanks !

Have you checked 'configuration' in Windows? Seems like MIDI settings on your pc aren't correct.

MXMIDI32.DLL refers to MIDI settings apparently

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I checked my Windows configuration and everything seems to be ok. I am running Windows 98 SE I also have a new Roland UM-2 midi interface hooked up, and it works flawlessly. Cakewalk, and my other software recognizes the interface. I'm pretty baffled and bummed, because it would oh so cool to be able to download/upload kits. Any other suggestions?

      Thanks !

        Wayne,

MXMIDI32.DLL should be in the same folder as the VKitTrans.exe file.

If the .dll is not there, either re-download VKitTrans from the FTP site or get in touch with me and I'll attach 'em to an email.

          Lee -

Thanks! I followed your suggestion and downloaded the program from the FTP site. When I viewed the files from WinZip, I noticed that indeed the .dll extension files were present MXMIDI32.DLL MXMIDI16.DLL & MXMIDI95.DLL When I double clicked open the .exe file a pop up error box states

"ERROR STARTING PROGRAM - The MXMIDI32.DLL File cannot start check the file to determine the problem".

I appreciate your time, and any other suggestions that you may have.

            >viewed the files from WinZip

Are you extracting all the files into a folder on your local hard drive and running the .exe from that folder? This is required.

              Lee -

              THANKS A MILLION!

The program is finally up and running on my computer, thanks to you! Lee, I'm fairly certain that the MXMIDI32.DLL extension didn't download correctly from the server, or the file was corrupted when I made my first attempt to download. The first time I tried to download the program I created a folder on my hard drive for it, and extracted everything from WinZip to the folder. Who knows? My dumb luck, my timing could have had something to do with it as well, I stumbled upon this VERY COOL site the same time this page was switching to another server. Anyway, I'm a happy camper and I KNOW I'm going to have a lot of fun with this new tool!

Thanks again and I highly recommend to everyone who is reading this and has a TD-10 and hasn't yet downloaded this program, to do so!

                  Ken -

Guys like you make it *very* easy for me to take a little vacation from this site.

I've now perused most of the hundreds of posts in my absence - and the way you have contributed, especially when the TDW-1 arrived, makes me very happy to be a small part of this community!
