TD30 Hi Hat problem with custom kits

I've purchased a used TD30KVS, just finished setting it up. Everything works fine with the stock Roland kits, but when I load the VEX Strike kits or any kits modified and saved from VDrumLib the Hi Hat doesn't close, just continues to ring after I've depressed the pedal.
Any tips?
My first thought was that I've made a mistake with the physical set up of the cymbal on the stand, but it works as expected on the default Roland kits.

Ha ha, first day, lots of reading to do! Recalibrated the Hi Hat as per Chris's suggestion, all fine.
