  • Vex Kits for Live Shows

We are going to be starting to gig soon. I have a lot of the vex kits I purchased. Right now I,m using the modcomprecwd number 50 on the pack. I'm just not sure what tweaking I will have to do with ambience, multi effects parameters, etc. The kits sounds really great in the studio where we practice but I know I will have to tweak .our first gig is an out door show with a bunch of other bands so I wont have much time to tweak.Really want to use me e-kit but dont want to have a melt down lol. Not sure if there are standards that should be tweaked in the parameters? Any input you guys can give me will be great thanks Donny

It's pretty much ready to go. Some may choose to pull the ambiance back a bit. My suggestion would be to record yourself playing in the module to one of your songs at practice, while playing at your normal strength. Use that track for sound check. As long as the FOH realizes you are sending a pre-mixed kit, and they don't add effects, you should be good.

Thanks Alan, I was just worried about too many things too adjust on the fly. I will definitely be the only one using an e-kit so I want to do us proud.. Thanks again

If you run your own FOH, I usually suggest to bands to get something like a dbx DriveRack PA. It will EQ the room for you, suppress feedback, and make your life a whole lot easier. When using one, there's very little need for tweaking on stage. In other words, you get to use the sound you want, and the room EQ and spectrum issues will be taken care of for you. I think these things are the best money a band can spend on their system. The rest simply falls on your engineer to mix properly.
