  • TD-8 MIDI storage questions

Hello, fellow V-drummers! This is only my second posting, but I've been following the site for a while now, and I just want to say that I'm really impressed with the volume and usefulness of the communication you all have between each other. Keep up the good work! Now that I've introduced myself, here's my problem:

I've already overwritten all 64 factory kits on my TD-8 with my own custom kits, but I can't figure out for the life of me why I can't store them as bulk files on my Alesis DataDisk and load them back into the TD-8 when needed. This was NEVER a problem with my D-4 and Yamaha TMX, and this is gear that is older than and inferior to the TD-8. Moreover, I can't bulk dump and reload all the TD'-8's songs and patterns into the DataDisk. The dump TO the DataDisk seems to work fine, but when I try to return it to the TD-8, no new data can be found and the DataDisk says "TARGET UNIT NOT RESPONDING". The TD-8's meter indicates that a bulk load took place, but none of the saved kits, songs, or patterns show up. Regrettably, neither Roland nor Alesis customer service had any answers, and I have a hard time believing that the DataDisk is not up to the task. Am I doing something wrong? If so, please tell me. Any help would be appreciated!!
