Does anyone know how the positional reading works in practice? Is it possible to build a own pad that utilizes this feature?

I may be way off here: It seems to me you would have to have 2 piezos.

You have PS on PD-9's and PD-7's. It's also on the VTom sounds and only 1 piezo is being utilized (PD-100's and 120's).

I'm believe Feefer has covered this before. If you want to know bad enough, spend some time on the search. My understanding is it's not something easily accomplished with the DIY crowd.
Kit Pic 1 Kit Pic 2 Kit Pic 3... And FOR SALE I have: 3 PD-9's, MDS-10 purple rack w/cables/pad and cym mounts. See classified posts for details or PM me.
