  • kicking out members?

i know this is probally an inapropriate post for this sight but, im in a band and the majority of us want to get rid of one of our members. we all feel bad for the person because this band is there life and they have nothing else. we feel that it is best for the rest of us and the band if we were without them. what is an easy/gentle way to get rid of a band member?? thanks

There is no gentle way of doing such a deed ,he or she will feel hurt no matter what. It's only a suggestion but I would say post your post in one thread only or we will kick you out Good luck ~REDMAN~

      Dion:

I regret to have to be the one to inform you of this, but the members of Vdrums.com and I have discussed this issue at great length and I was elected to give you the bad news. We feel this site would be better off if you weren't a member. Your sorry butt has to leave. Please don't take this personally (although I have no idea how else you would take it) and please don't do anything rash - cause that might make us feel bad (at least we will post about it for a day or two and then forget you).

Man, I really feel bad about having to do this. Please don't be mad at me. The other guys forced this on me. Good luck to you.

See Dion, that wasn't so hard was it?

When I was a teeny bopper, some 30 years ago, there was a band that was sick of their drummer and wanted to give him the boot and bring me in. The band broke up and reformed a week later with, you guessed it, me as the drummer. We all had a big laugh about it much later on, especially when he went on to much bigger and better things and we stagnated and eventually broke up a few months later.

The one thing we didn't do which hurt him the most, is have the guts to give him a reason. I can still remember him asking over and over, Why?

Forget "easy" cause it ain't gonna happen. "Gentle" probably ain't in the cards either. But you owe him and yourself an honest answer when he asks you WHY.

sorry about posting in like 3 different forums, i really didnt think it was as big of a deal as everyone makes it sound. the thing is, when i come to this sight, i usually go into 1 or 2 forums on a regular basis and i dont get a chance to read all the new posts. soo by posting in multiple forums i feel i'll get multiple responses. kinda like advertising well anyways thanks to those of you that responded and any more ideas would be nice

Kind of in the same area. How do fire the meddling wife of a member without getting rid of the member. We've got a real Yoko on our hands.

Now that's a challenge! You don't indicate what Mr. Yoko's take is on all this. Does he realize this situation exists and is so PW he allows it to happen? Or, is he oblivious to how she is and how others perceive her?

(Maybe I can be the Dear Abby/Ann Landers of Vdrums.com. I'm about due for a career change.)

In case you don't get it that's the sound her whip makes. Yeah Mr. Yoko is totally oblivious to the situation. I don't really expect an answer, don't even guess there is one. The guy's just lucky he's as talented as he is or he'd be gone by now. It's real disheartening, our bass player is on the verge of walking out because he's got another offer. Oh well.

What we have done in the past is to put together a little football game and make sure the guitar player attends. We pay off big Willie in beer with the instructions to concentrate on the fingers or wrists. Nature takes over from there.

This is very effective (we have rid of 3 guitarists and a bass player this way) unless the one you want to rid of is the singer...they require a slightly different approach.
