can anyone help me figure out if i can import midi songs into my td 8 sound module from a web site and then play along. If i can can i then take the drum sounds out and play along? And finally can I find songs like eagles songs out there to import through a midi cable into my td8 and then play along.

any info would be great i am a rookie.

You can take MIDI files of drums, run them through your TD-x module and have the module play the drum sequence (the module would be playing the corresponding MIDI note number).

You can't take MIDI files of songs, like melody **** that you hear on your computer, and run them from the TD-x module.

I mean....you COULD, but all the sounds would come out as drums, and that would be bad.

      scottyb,

don't listen to binary, he's an idiot

yeah, you can play midi files through your td8, the td8 allows you to play along with any general midi score, just connect your sound card (or midi card) on your computer to the module with a midi cable (make sure you put the out plug into the midi in on the td8), open the file with a midi sequencer program like cakewalk, and mute the drum part if you want, you can change the settings so that it plays with the td8 drum sounds, look at the manual, i think all of the midi stuff is in chapter 9

thanks gessler. Now do i have to buy a special card to run the midi out of my computer into my td8 and if so where do i get it? I have a apple powerbook g3 with firewire and usb ports. You said i use a program called cakewalk what the hell is that can i download a shareware copy? and do i then actually push play on my computer and it plays through my td8? thanks. i'm a pathetic rookie.

          Hi
if you have a sound blaster all you need is a midi cable that goes out from your game-port.
          it's not 2 expensive...

scot i`m e-mailing you some eagles midi`s that ive found on the web over the last few years.

            Ok they are sent.
Cakewalk is a sequencer program but it is only for the PC.
I`m sure you will be able find a freeware Midi Only sequencer for the mac on the web.
I`m not sure about the TD8 but the TD10 only has 3 midi chanels that you can assign melodic instruments to.
The midi files I sent you use probably 10 of the 16 midi channels so you are going to have to get some sort of soundcard (or external GM Sound Module to be able to hear the correctly.
Welcome to the Life in the fast lane.
fast lane to spending all your bucks on your new hobby.
            But its worth it.
None of the standard midi files were created by me I just got them off the web.
If there are any others that you want and cant find on the web let me know and i`ll see if I have them.
