  • KD8 pad tear? Also TMC-6 mini review

I noticed yesterday that I have a tear on the KD8. Could have been there for a day or a year I guess. Is there a replacement part for this? It is right where the main beater (double pedal) comes in to contact with the pad. Should I not play until this is fixed? Not sure what kind of damage would result by continued playing.

Also, my beautiful wife picked up a TMC-6 for me for Christmas. It took some tweaking and reading the forums, and some help from Bruce but I have it working now. Very nice addition. I will provide a more formal write up in a bit but it triggers just as well as the TD12 (for CY pads anyway).

    Thanks.

I'm sure Roland has a replacement cover for it but probably costs way to much. You should, however, get one of those bass drum head patches (Gibralter, Evans or Remo) to protect from further damage. I use a Kevlar patch by Evans on my KD-8 and works very well.

I too use the Evans patches. I did it from the off, just in case. Well worth a fiver.
