  • Newer Hart Pro Snare - Trigger Problem

Okay here's the problem. Bought a new hart pro snare a few months back. The drum worked exceptionally well until about a month ago. The thing just stopped triggering. If I hit it pretty hard, it sounded like the rim was triggering, but nothing from the head. Tried different cables, change head tension +/- but nothing worked. Well eventually I sent the drum to Hart Dynamics and they called and said they were unable to reproduce the results. According to binky @ Hart, he played the heck out of it and it worked flawlessly. So he sent it back and it worked great for about a week and now it is doing the exact same thing. The only thing I noticed this time is that if I dont play the drum for a day or so it will work fine for about 5 minutes then triggering goes away.

I really dont want to send it back to Hart for them to come back with "it works fine".

Any ideas you have would be really appreciated.

Just a thought... Any chance that one or more of the snare trigger settings on your TD-20 could have been changed around that time?
Maybe Binky can give you the settings they're using on their module and you can compare those to yours.

Maybe it's in the module and not in the snare? You could try another pad if it's failing...

        Thanks for your replies.

I've tried another pad and it works fine.

I've reset the module to factory and plugged in the Hart recommended settings... no change.

Intermittently faulty piezo or badly soldered piezo wire or piezo klackered, i would have a look see, whip mesh head off, tap the head piezo see if she's alive

Maybe get another piezo and crocodile clip it to the jack or something, tap tap tap think it's ceramic to tip and brass to sleeve...
