  • Click track on headphones

I'm using the new TD-9 and was wondering. Is there a way to make the click only go to my headphones and not to the main output to the P.A.
I'm starting to work with Hip Hop & R&B groups where I've gotta wear cans.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

As far as I know - no. The TD-9 does not have separate output assignments. In fact, using the headphones disables the main outs.

I don't think so. There's a "not" in there; "Using the headphone jack will not mute the main OUTPUT jacks."

Heh, reading is so underrrated. That's the problem when using a manual instead of experience. You miss a few "nots"!

So does the TD9 not have the same feature as the TD-8 where you can assign click to be "Headphones only"? I know that the TD8 and TD9 are different beasts.. But you would imagine that functionality avaiable on ancient products such as the 8 would be included in the newer models?

I think the reasoning must be that the TD-9 replaced the TD-6, and the TD-12 replaced the TD-8. And even on newer modules some features are omitted to justify price differentiation.

Very sweet - but a pain to set up. I usually only have it assembled for shows and festivals.

You need a room to have it set up for practise. I couldn't imagine having to wait for a show or a festival to have access to my cage!!! Can anyone say 'withdrawal symptoms'?

Get a metronome. Use a metronome, not the one in the brain.

As far as I can tell no.

Did find a work around but not with the TD-9.
I went and bought a Behringer Ultratone K3000FX for my stage monitor.
                            It's a 300W 4-channel amplifier.
On channel 4 you can assign the output to go to the headphone only.
So I'll just have to patch my click to that and I'll be golden.
I still love my TD-9, Thanks everybody for your kind advice!

There is a really great article in DRUM! magazine about playing with the click track. They also make some product recommendation/reviews as well. I've never done any recording, so I found the article really interesting.

Unfortunately their credibility is suspect as one of their other articles is complete and utter bull. I tried all "10 ways to play like Stewart Copeland" and am very disappointed at the results.
