  • Roland Spd-s kick pad compatibility

    Hi there

Right now, I am using a Roland Spd-s Sampling Pad. I wish to add a Roland electronic Kick Pad. The Owners Manual is not very clear about what can or cannot be connected. Some models listed in the compatible pad list are not listed on Roland Website. Im interested in the KD 85 as the kd 120 is well over my budget. appreciate your help. thanks

    Welcome!

Any Roland kick pad (and most other brands) will be compatible with an SPD-S. It's just that the SPD-S manual was printed five years ago, before the KD-85 (and KD-8) became available; but this Roland pad compatibility chart shows that they're fine with an SPD-S.

Yes, either should work in the trigger input.

      Edit: Damn it Bruce!

My Hart 8" mesh kick works with it! Wish the hi hat did too.

I am using an old Kat pedal from a "Midi Kiti" electronic set I had back in the 90s. Works well.

Make sure you use the trigger input not the foot switch (although that one can be used for triggering also)... Maybe use with a mono cable just to be sure.

Off topic, do you maybe have a brother named Paul?
