  • How to change the cross stick sound w/tdw-1

I just installed my tdw-1 last night & I'm quite pleased with it. I may have missed it but I can't seem to figure out how to change the cross stick sounds. Any of you other tdw-1 users have any Ideas. I bet this is somthing totally simple that I'm just missing.

I am currently not at home, but what when you press the RIM button (red light on) and press EDIT. Does the menu only show the rimshot sound? And which sound does it show when you hit your drum pads or the preview button on the td-10 quite softly (as a result of which the x-stick must sound). Does the menu now show the assigned x-stick sound?

Then you can change. I figure it out tonight

That didn't seem to work... The instrument select screen always displayed the rim shot sound even when hitting lightly to hear the cross stick.
It seems that each snare is given a respective cross stick sound, and thats what your stuck with. I may still be wrong, but, nothing in the TDW-1 manual mentions how to change the cross stick.

Yeah, right. I figured it out yesterday evening and it didn't work. The next few days I'm gonna think about whether this is a problem or not

I think every new TDW-1 Vsnare comes with it's own x-stick sound that we can only be turn on or off. This is my guess anyhow.

I think so. But is it a double flange rim sound, a triple flange rim sound, a die cast rim sound, a powerhoop rim sounds, a mighty hoop rim sound, a ....

just checked the midi implementation chart and on the bottom of p28 you will see the address where the x stick switch is stored in the td10 memory and top of the next page you`ll see the location for the volume adjust
the threshold settings for x stick which is part of the trigger settings is on p27.
There dose`n`t seem to be anywhere to store the instrument value for the x stick sound which means sadly wish list it is.

LOL!!! Yep, we have a request for the next expansion board. Despite not being able to change the cross stick sound I'm very pleased with the TDW-1.

                  Thanks for the posts,

The td 8 has a couple of x-stick samples and they "change" depending on what snare is used. In other words, they match the snare they are asigned to. They also automatically change pitch if you edit the snare pitch.

Unfortunately the TD-10 doesn't seem to send a different MIDI note for the crosstick, so I haven't managed to get it to trigger my Gigasampler crosstick sample. The only other alternative for me is to get the TD-10 to do the crosstick sound, but I find a way of silencing the snare without also silencing the crosstick. Can anyone think of a way of setting up the TD-10/TDW-1 to sound the crosstick when I play a crosstick, but leave the actual snare sound silent?
