  • KD-10: Acoustic noise from Roland plastic beater

    Hi All,

Got back into drumming after a year out and just bought TD27KV.

I bought he Roland RDH-100 kick pedal which comes with a plastic beater.

The acoustic noise from the beater hitting the KD-10 is very loud, far louder than I expected and way louder than any AE kick I've made in the past.
It's easily the loudest part of the kit.

Would changing the beater to another type make any difference?

    Thanks in advance!

cool.. the snare and ride are great..
and yeah, kd-10 impact is noisy.. you could make a better beater from a 'flat' beater and (double sided) taping a small piece of soft foam on it..
(beater side) this will reduce impact noise.. while still triggering fine.. and put 1 or 2 door mats under pedal/ pad.. (that's the simple solution..)

The double sided foam is a great idea! I’ll give that a lash and see how it goes.

      cheers!

yo .. you have to find softer foam than you think.. it has to absorb the 'thud' but still transfer the energy..
done it a lot, with those kind of pads..
