  • Pearl No-Drill Adapter (NDA-1)

Has anyone used these things before? I think they were originally sold as part of the TruTrac system, but they're also sold as standalones. My questions is will these allow me to not only not drill my drum shells, as the name implies, but leave the air vent grommets intact? I'm doing an A2E conversion on a PDP Concept Maple kit and want to keep everything reversible and as intact as possible. TIA.

I guess it could work and be a visually appealing solution... Practially, you'd have to either solder a female jack to the trigger output or to solder the wires directly to each other. Wether the grommets would stay intact depends on the diameter of the NDA and the vents.

I just drilled mine out... if you wanted to ever go back to stock acoustic, you could always just pick up some new air vent grommets from somewhere like this:

      Roland TD-30 & TM-6 Modules | Superior Drummer 3 on PC | Tama Superstar Hyper-Drive Maple A2E w/ R-Drums Triggers | ATV aD Cymbals | Tama HW & Pedals | Focusrite Clarett 4Pre | Simmons DA200S Monitor, V-MODA Crossfade M-100 OEMs & MEE MX4 PRO IEMs

The PDP Concept Maple has threaded air vent grommets. Very easy to remove and reinstall, just take the nut off to remove. Just sayin.

Yup, that's what I had in mind. Renders the NDA quite useless.

Jman, yeah I discovered this shortly after posting. Quite easy versus pressed grommets. Clean install, too. Thanks.

Yeah, I've done a few PDP kits and a couple acrylic kits .... all of those come with threaded grommets which makes it really easy to convert.

I purchased some Neutrik Jack plugs to fit in place of the grommet. I had to remove it and to drill fit the plug to fit. It had a 12mm diameter, whereas the hole itself was 9mm.

For anyone reading this with pressed air vents, Be careful, sometimes they could be tricky to remove. But you can gently twiggle a drumstick inside and it will get loose.
